Collections Management and Valuation of Fine Art and Antiques
J. Carman, Inc. is the Mid-South's leading independent art advisory and appraisal firm. Because Accredited Senior Appraiser Jennifer Carman works independently of any auction house, dealer, or gallery, she is able to provide objective and confidential valuation services and advice on acquisition or disposal of fine and decorative art unfettered by potential conflicts of interest.
Welcome to J. Carman, Inc., a full-service art advisory, art research, and appraisal firm operated by Jennifer N. Carman, M.Phil., ASA. I invite you to share my passion for the aesthetics, connoisseurship, and history of American and European fine and decorative arts. Though located in downtown Little Rock, Arkansas, I serve regional and national clientele ranging from beginning collectors to the most experienced museum curators and insurance adjustors. I am a personal property appraiser specializing in American and European paintings, works on paper, photographs, sculpture, furniture, ceramics, silver, and collectibles. My clients include private collectors, museums, state agencies, corporations, attorneys, CPAs, trust departments, and insurance companies. My appraisal reports are thoroughly researched and executed in the strictest of confidence for purposes of insurance, charitable contributions, estate planning, and damage/loss.
In addition to being an accredited personal property appraiser, I am an independent art historian and curator who consults, advises, and writes on many topics in the fine and decorative arts. I am an alumna of Hendrix College who holds a Master's degree in Art History from the University of Glasgow, and I am a Graduate Connoisseur of Christie's in London. I hold a Certificate in Appraisal Studies from the State University of New York at Purchase College earned through the American Society of Appraisers, where I am an Accredited Senior Appraiser. I am also an Accredited Member of the International Society of Appraisers and the Appraisers Association of America with a designation in American Art including Paintings, Drawings, and Sculpture. My peer-reviewed specialties include Fine Art (Paintings, Works on Paper, Sculpture) and Antiques/Decorative Arts. I am dedicated to the highest standards of practice within the appraisal profession, and am up-to-date with the most current Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) examination.
