Request an "Object Overview" for $85
J. Carman, Inc. visits with clients on a daily basis who are not sure whether the value of their painting or antique object justifies the expense of a formal appraisal. In fact, many clients are just curious about the potential value of their objects, and do not need an appraisal for insurance, court, or the IRS. If you fall into this category, an "Object Overview" was designed for you. An "Object Overview" is not an appraisal of your object, but rather a form of preliminary field research that is intended to give you insight into how objects that may be similar or comparable to yours are performing in the relevant marketplace. The minimum fee for an in-person appointment or consultation is $200, thus an online "Object Overview" makes expert input available to clients at a lower cost for those who may not need a formal appraisal.
The goals of an "Object Overview" include the following:
• To identify your object and provide information about its maker, materials, and origins
• To obtain preliminary field research data from the relevant market
• To ascertain a value range demonstrating how objects similar or comparable to yours are performing in the relevant marketplace.
• To determine whether a formal appraisal may indeed be warranted for objects with particularly high potential value spectrums
Note: Services are typically rendered within 3 to 5 business days. If field research suggests that objects similar to yours are selling for less than $85, a portion of the fee paid for the "Object Overview" may be refunded. If the value of your object is found to justify the expense of a formal appraisal, the fee for the "Object Overview" will be applied toward the overall expenses of any future appraisal services that you may choose to engage in. This exercise does not conclude a value for your particular item, but ascertains consummated sales prices for similar objects.
